Spartan Cup winner advances to statewide event next month.

Last Friday,听小优视频ampa听students听pitched听their businesses听and business ideas听to听judges听at听the听Spartan Cup听competition听in听the听尝辞飞迟丑听贰苍迟谤别辫谤别苍别耻谤蝉丑颈辫听颁别苍迟别谤.听
Paulina听Labarta Meza, a first-year student听and听entrepreneurship major, won with her听jewelry听company,听Azzaik,听which specializes in听affordable,听high-quality,听daily听use听jewelry.听听
She started the business听when she was 16, she said,听because it was difficult to find听quality, affordable听jewelry听that she could wear during activities听like听swimming.听
鈥淚 don鈥檛 want to spend hundreds of dollars听on听jewelry, and I don鈥檛 want to spend five dollars听on听jewelry听and have to buy the same thing over and over again,听so I figured out a way to make the plating 10 times听thicker听and last听10 times longer to be affordable,鈥 said听Labarta Meza.听
She said she has听made听over $180,000 in sales and sold around 16,000 pieces of jewelry.听
This is not the first business she听has run,听nor听was this听the first pitch competition she has听participated听in.听And with the win, she and听Azzaik听advance to the statewide Governor鈥檚 Cup pitch competition, which will be held April 17-18 at Florida Gulf Coast University.听
Brandon Weber,听the听Lowth听Center鈥檚听manager of operations, said this is the third year听小优视频ampa听has听held听Spartan听Cup.听Each person or group was given听three minutes听to present, followed by听two minutes of questions听from听six听judges.听The participants听were听judged on听several measures,听including opportunity, advantage, competitive landscape, revenue model, founder fit,听current status,听branding听and presentation.听
Along with听jewelry, students pitched听products ranging from A.I.听to lifestyle.听
Gustave听Oliveira,听a junior听from Brazil听studying economics,听pitched听an听A.I.听product听called听CardioFlow, to be used by physicians for transcription and more.听听
鈥淯nlike generic A.I. scribes that just turn conversations into text,鈥 Oliveira said, 鈥淐ardioFLow听understands the medical context. It combines听what鈥檚听said during the visit with the patient鈥檚 history听and听exam data to produce a complete clinical node.鈥澨
He said the first doctor he introduced听it听to听in Brazil听told him听that it saved her听two hours.听
Another pitch, made by senior听entrepreneurship major听Maggie Keith with her听CFO, senior听Olivia Kelly,听was听a听multipurpose,听steam-based听hair听styler, which听Keith听came up with听in Entrepreneurship 320听and is听now听in the听early stages听of development.听Keith and Kelly have a third partner who serves as COO of the company,听senior听Kristina听Guatto.听
Though there were many business majors听competing on Friday, Josh Ray,听lecturer听and听new听venture听adviser听in the听Lowth听Center,听said this competition, along with other听on-campus听pitch competitions,听are open to all majors,听and all students听are encouraged听to听develop听their entrepreneurial skills through听the way the events teach听vulnerability, communication, criticism and more.听
