Career Specialties

As a State of Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology licensed SLP-A, Martin's research is centered on the applications of evidence-based practices in clinical voice care in choral pedagogy, voice pedagogy and preventative care in choral singing, and bridging communication between professional voice care users and clinical practice. In addition, Martin's other research interests include programming the works of under-represented composers and the applications of healthy voice pedagogy in the instruction of individuals seeking gender-affirming care.

Professional and Community Activities

Zerrin Agabigum Martin, (she/her/hers),Ìýis active as conductor, voice clinician, educator, and professional singer. Martin earned her DMA in Choral Conducting with a cognate area of research in Speech, Language, Pathology and Voice Sciences at the University of Florida. Martin’s research is centered on the applications of clinical care and evidence-based practices in Speech Language Pathology and vocology in choral pedagogy. Her article, "Choral Pedagogical Tools and Vocal Exercises: A Practical Guide to Teaching Handel's Messiah" was published as the feature article in the October 2023 ACDA The Choral Journal. Martin will have future articles published in The Choral Journal "On The Voice" column, with the most recent article appearing in February 2026. Licensed as a State of Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology as an SLP-A, Martin is active as a voice care clinician with professional choral singers and various professional ensembles across the United States, including the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus and Minnesota Choral. Martin has presented at the 2024 Florida ACDA State Conference, the 2025 NBASLH National Conference, and 2025 Florida American Speech Hearing Association conference, and will be presenting in the 2025 Florida ACDA State Conference and at the 2026 Florida Music Educators Association State Conference.Ìý

As an educator, Martin taught middle and high school choirs in public and private schools. Consistently her middle and high school choirs received top awards and accolades including solo performances at state ACDA and All-Eastern Division NAfME. As an advocate for equitable access to high-quality music education, she founded the Delaware Independent Schools Choral Festival in 2013. To this date, this festival has provided hundreds of high school choral singers the opportunities to work with leading collegiate choral conductors on choral masterworks. In 2019, Martin was recognized with the Top Educator Award of Delaware Mainline Today for her work with Delaware school choral programs.ÌýÌý

She has performed with Seraphic Fire, True Concord Voices, The Crossing Choir, the Weimar Bachakademie Ensemble, the JSB Ensemble of the Internationale Bachakademie in Stuttgart, Norfolk Music Festival Chamber Choir.ÌýShe can be heard on the Conspirare: A Company of Voices album, advena: liturgies for a broken world released in August 2025, and the recording of the upcoming world première of Joby Talbot's Piedra del Sol.
