Career Specialties

Claire Marie Class鈥檚 research sits at the intersection of literary studies and sociology. Her work focuses on a cluster of American reformers who deployed modernist techniques, such as linguistic collage and iteration, in their fiction and life writing to disrupt the early institutionalization of sociology in the United States.

More recently, she has written on the relationship between medical technologies and American modernist literature.
