°Õ³ó±ðÌýLaw, Justice and Advocacy MinorÌýoffers a unique combination of experiential legal education and traditional academic inquiry. Area lawyers and judges train students to brief cases, advance through the stages of litigation in trial court and hone oral and written arguments. Courses in related disciplines such as history and philosophy develop the research, critical reasoning and writing skills that are necessary for students preparing to attend law school. The program is administered by theÌýDepartment of History, Geography and Legal Studies.
The program helps prepare those students who are considering law school or graduate school. Students must take introduction to law, justice and advocacy; one advocacy course (appellate advocacy or trial advocacy); two additional core courses (legal research and writing, ethics, race and the law, or constitutional history); and one law elective.
СÓÅÊÓƵampa students have a long tradition of successful participation in moot court. They have received top orator awards at the regional tournaments of the American Moot Court Association and have advanced to the national competition. СÓÅÊÓƵampa has also served as a tournament host.
