Residence Halls Close on Friday, Dec. 12, at 11a.m.

Fall 2025 Closing Information

All residents are expected to vacate their rooms 24 hours after their last exam or by Friday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m., whichever comes first. Residents are responsible for reviewing all the move-out information on this page. Students planning to come back to campus for Spring 2026 should refer to the Move-In Information website for details.

24-Hour Quiet Hours

24-hour quiet hours begin Friday, Dec. 5, at 10 p.m. Please be courteous to your peers, especially when you are packing and moving during check-out. Failure to comply with quiet hours may result in immediate dismissal from the halls.

  • Residents are expected to vacate the halls within 24 hours of their last final exam or by Friday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m., whichever comes first.
  • Residents not returning in the Spring 2026 semester are expected to sign up for a check out appointment with a resident assistant. Details on this process will be provided to all residential students via their Spartan email account.
  • Residents returning to campus in the spring of 2026 are not required to check out or return their room keys, but must vacate by Dec. 12 at 11 a.m.
  • Limited carts and bins will be available during move-out. We recommend bringing your own cart based on this limited availability.
  • Garbage should be taken to the dumpsters during move-out.

For Students Not Returning in Spring 2026

  • Remove all personal belongings from your room prior to your check-out time. All abandoned property will be disposed of during the winter break.
  • Remove posters, tape/decals and residue, nails, hooks, etc. from walls, windows and mirrors.
  • Clean your room and/or apartment thoroughly. Clean the refrigerator and clean the stove and other appliances in the apartment, if applicable.
  • Please remove trash and sweep/vacuum the floor. Trash must be placed in an appropriate dumpster or trash room.
  • Set your thermostat to 72 degrees. If your thermostat has a fan speed setting, set it to AСÓÅÊÓÆµO.
  • Check to make sure that water faucets/showers are off.
  • Close the blinds in your room.
  • Check to make sure all stove tops and ovens are off (if applicable).
  • If you are the first person to return your key for your space, please ensure your roommates/suitemates understand their role of completing their checklist especially for common spaces.

A late checkout fee of $100.00 will be assessed for check-outs after 12 p.m., as well as any applicable damage fees. Please refer to the damage fee website for details.

We suggest taking pictures of the condition of your bedroom/suite/apartment for your records. You do not need to submit these photos unless otherwise asked to by a team member.

  • Attend your floor’s Closing Community Meeting the week of Dec. 3-6
    • If you missed your Closing Community Meeting – you will need to meet separately with your RA to get the missed information.
  • Complete all items on your check-out checklist.
  • Open all drawers, cabinets, and closets to ensure you did not leave anything behind.
  • Lock your room door and return your key to your Resident Assistant.
  • If you have questions regarding your check-out, contact your RA, call the RA on duty phone number or visit the community desk (or noted centralized location for assistance).
    • In the event that the community desk is closed, please contact the Office of Residence Life at (813) 253-6239.
  • If there are damages, have all members of the room email the Area Coordinator to inform them of who is responsible. If no one claims responsibility, everyone will be charged. If the apartment/room is dirty, everyone will be charged. All areas of the apartment /room must be cleaned prior to each person checking out.

  • Update your forwarding address via the Mail Services Website and contact any pending deliveries to update your delivery address. This includes updating your default address in Amazon.
  • Please pick up any mail and packages from the mail centers before leaving campus.
  • Mail Services is open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday – Friday
  • Parking regulations are in place and enforced on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please review the СÓÅÊÓÆµampa Parking Regulations for details.
  • Loading and unloading zones near residence halls will be in place from Wednesday, Dec. 10, to Friday, Dec. 12.
  • Please do not park in the unloading zones longer than 30 minutes. Please refer to the Residential Maps below to help direct you to a nearby parking lot.
  • Please do not park in any "Disabled Parking" space unless displaying a proper state-issued Disabled Parking placard, hangtag, or license plate.
  • Please do not park in numbered, reserved or labeled parking spaces.
  • Box trucks are not permitted on campus during the hours of 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on designated closing days. For winter 2025 closing, this includes Friday, Dec. 5, through Friday Dec. 12.
  • All vendors, including moving assistance services, must be escorted by their resident host at all times.

Residents wishing to donate items such as clothing, furniture, appliances, etc., can drop off their items at one of the donation centers below near the University. Please call ahead to confirm the hours of operation.

Break stay housing between Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 is available. Residents may request staying over the break via the break stay form, located in StarRez.

Residents who fail to submit the form by Dec. 1 may be directed to find alternate housing arrangements for the break. For more information about winter break stay, please visit the application page. 

  • Break Stay Housing is not free, nor is it already paid for in the Housing Agreement (please see the Housing and Meal Rates page for break stay rates).
  • Dining is available during winter break on a limited basis and meal plans are inactive between Dec. 13 and Jan. 16. For more information on dining options, please visit the .
  • Only residents in good conduct standing and have a spring 2026 assignment on campus are eligible for break stay.
  • Residents eligible to request Break Stay Housing must complete the Break Stay Request form in StarRez before midnight on Dec. 1.
